Nov. 12th, 2025 12:32 amToday I am grateful for:
The people and animals who fought to protect our freedom, though I am always upset that they ever needed to do so in the first place. I do not celebrate war, but the peace they bought.
I got sleep, though it was very "busy" with dreams.
I woke up to all kinds of immediate demands on my attention.
No video ended up being posted on a virtual show to a place that this is the third time now I've tried to show with them, and their set up is so ridiculous that it just doesn't seem to work for me.
Feeding yelling creatures, then myself, so that I can be ready for a zoom meeting for our pottery committee.
Everyone had issues connecting with the zoom meeting, but mainly D.
D was extremely negative for the whole meeting, and I know she's having a lot of things going on her life, but her negativity towards the efforts of our committee were not warranted.
We've done some amazing things in a short period of time to overcome the isolation and fear that S would like everyone to believe is real, and I see no reason to stop trying to build bridges between the separated pottery groups.
I think it might be time for someone else to chair our group, though. If she's given up, the rest of us don't need to give up with her.
I managed to salvage the shreds of our idea for a Christmas party, to pivot it to a "meet and greet" in the new year (we needed more time to plan it and promote it).
So that was exhausting.
Then I spent a bit of time outside with Wonder, which helped a bit.
Then I went to see River. As usual, I had to take him away from his feed. They feed him right at the time slot they gave me to work with him, and it rarely fails.
He does get fed, there's usually hay left when we're done, but I'm sure it sucks for him.
He was in a good frame of mind though, and I focused again on mirroring steps with him, and really putting a lot of my own energy into getting him more forward, and I think it helped.
He was nice in our ridden work. He wanted to rush that trot again, just to the right, but after a bit he was able to hold himself better and do a more controlled pace.
I felt a LOT better after spending some time with him. I had some new tunes on the phone (I use a speaker during our sessions for fun) and I just really appreciated how much River helps me feel better with our work together.
I drove home, and there were the most SPECTACULAR Northern Lights going on. A huge patch of brilliant pink/red, and I don't think I've ever seen it like that before. My brother back at the family farm posted a picture of the same event, with Mom's tree silhouetted against it. A beautiful image.
My Sweetie and I hopped right back into the car to go pick my car up from the mechanic's. It will have to go back as soon as the parts come in to fix the shocks and the rear brakes.
Then we quickly made supper, and watched another episode of "Good Omens".

Date: 2025-11-13 07:29 am (UTC)I was under the impression that a lot of people were able to see them last night that normally wouldn't be able to see them, but I guess it's a right place right time situation.
That said, you could spend two weeks up in Canada in the winter, and not be guaranteed to see them unless you knew there would be solar flares.
