Good sleep.
A bit of time with my Sweetie before he screeched off to the city to go climbing.
He spent the earlier part of the day on the phone dealing with stuff from work that apparently could not be done by others at his job site. From what I understand, he was making sure things got delivered to the right place, which is, I guess, quite difficult for his company.
I had made an appointment yesterday with the vet to check on Wonder's skin; she's been SO itchy, and it doesn't seem to be anything I can pinpoint. The vet didn't right away have an answer either, so she took a sample of a scab to look at, and drew blood.
I don't have a clear path forward yet as to what to do for her, but I guess this is where you start.
Then I headed to the barn to see River.
He did well with our ground work and so on, but still very racy to the right at a trot. It's very strange.
I tried some of R's suggestions, which helped a bit, but....?
I stayed to work with Ferrari when the woman with health challenges had her lesson. Ferrari was super sweet today, and he's looking so good. He was really obese when he got to R almost two years ago now I think, but he's lost weight and he's a lot stronger and healthier, and so much more relaxed.
I put a warmer blanket on River, as we are headed down to about -20 C tonight. It was fairly cold when I worked with him at about -13 c, and that dropped really fast to -17 C when I left the barn.
I went upstairs with R to spend some time with the kittens, and we ended up just talking for a fair while.
At one point, R said "how's your Mom doing, you haven't mentioned her in a while", I sort of froze, and she went "oh, yeah, she's dead".
It was almost comedically awful, but I know she meant well. I really haven't talked about losing Mom at the barn since it happened, so I get it.
Usually it's me who says things like that.
I came home, checked on the animals and threw them some extra hay to help them keep warm, while my Sweetie made me supper.
We chatted for a while and he headed to bed.
It sounds like he had a good time climbing, and his friend and his daughter showed up too.
