Dec. 20th, 2025 03:11 amToday I am grateful for:
Getting some sleep, though I felt like I woke up a lot.
Feeling better. I'm congested mostly, but the achy feeling is mostly gone.
My Sweetie mostly did the chores himself before heading off to the climbing gym.
I went to get the Christmas cards mailed....Hoo Boy!
Our post office IS small, but today was ridiculous. There was one inexperienced person working there, and the system wasn't working. It kept rejecting the inputs for a package someone ahead of me was trying to mail. The person just kept trying to put it into the system, and it kept getting rejected.
The system crashed...? This person called his Mom to come in and help (in Alberta, in small towns, often the post office is run like a franchise by an owner) who runs the post office, and she came in and I don't even know if this guy's package got sorted out, but she did get me stamps for my cards.
It took close to 45 minutes...I probably should have just left, but the thing is, while you're there, you think "any minute now this is going to get sorted out".
I was already there, had my cards all ready, and I really wanted to mail them because it's so close to Christmas.
It was ridiculous, and I felt so sorry for the employee, who probably just went home and cried afterwards.
Anyhow, after that I headed to the barn.
I saw R, and made sure my little gift for the woman with health issues would get passed along (she was coming, but to work with her dog upstairs instead of having a riding lesson). She did work with a horse with us in the arena for a while.
River did well today. He was paying attention and I didn't have to repeat myself with the yields and such. I'm trying to be more clear in my communications. He still felt a bit rushing in one direction, but better after some work.
Then I came home and started quinoa for supper, and when my Sweetie got home we ate and then watched "Killers of the Flower Moon".
I thought the topic was worthy of exploration (murder of Osage people for oil money), but I thought it was WAY too long, that DiCaprio made one face all the way through that looked like constipation rather than any kind of complex acting, and I couldn't understand how his character Earnest seemed to love his wife Mollie very much, but was also okay with killing her family.
