Jan. 17th, 2026 02:32 amToday I am grateful for:
Good sleep.
Time with my Sweetie before he headed off to the city to look for materials, and to go to the climbing gym.
He has been thinking about where to start in the basement when Dan comes, and he bought good one side plywood for inside the window sills.
He was shocked that a screen door the exact same as the one that broke is now doubled in price from when we first installed it only two years ago. He's going to look into replacing the glass instead, since the frame is fine.
I did chores and such, and was happy that the wind died down.
Then I headed to the riding barn.
River did well today, though he did pull to the outside still. I did use the bitless bridle instead of just the neck rope for riding him so that I could actually DO SOMETHING when he pulled. I felt that I had a good response to it today, without being emotional, so that it didn't become "a thing" for him.
He did finally chill a bit in the trot to the right, so we'll keep trying.
I stayed to work with Amber during the lesson time with the woman with health issues. Amber is funny, in that she's very pokey considering she's an Arab.
Then after putting away horses and cleaning up, we headed upstairs for some kitten time. They're not little babies anymore, but still very playful and fun. They are more or less house cats now, though R brings them out to the barn (mostly the loft upstairs) sometimes.
R and I chatted for a while as we watched kittens, and my Sweetie stopped in on his way from the city. We all chatted.
Very enjoyable.
Then we came home, I made my own supper (he ate in town) and we watched "An American Werewolf in Paris", which is pretty campy bad, but not awful.
I can recall a time when this seemed like a pretty GOOD movie. Ah, a more innocent time.
