Jan. 19th, 2026 02:09 amToday I am grateful for:
Good sleep.
Nice to have my Sweetie in the house.
He took the smashed screen door off so he could clean the remaining broken glass out, and so that it isn't oddly just hanging there, useless. He said the door itself looks fine, if we can replace the glass with another similar piece.
We did chores, and Dandy got to be with Wonder.
I sat with my Sweetie for a little while in the garage, and we looked at our options for a sink for the pottery studio.
The garage/shop is a mess, as it generally is, and it is frustrating for my husband. It is very disorganized, and like so much of our space, there's just too much stuff in it. Organizing isn't likely the solution.
Yet, we end up using things we've saved. We've used all kinds of wood he's saved, and odd things here and there. He has a LOT of tools. A LOT of nails, screws, what have you from every project we've done that required something specific, and he doesn't need the entire box.
He is going to have to let something go, though. You can't even move in there.
I went to see River, and my Sweetie stayed home to try to organize the shop, though he does that A LOT and it doesn't seem to have any long term effect on the mess.
River did well today. Good energy and focus. He pulled/rushed a BIT, but not too badly.
I found another liner to go under a horse blanket in his size, which is good. I took it to the barn in case he needs it, but oddly it doesn't match any of his outer blankets that I know of. Weird. Yet, I've bought some of his blankets and liners from Marketplace, so it might have been unmatched from the beginning. I might never have owned the original outer blanket.
Earl the ancient mariner barn cat is looking pretty rough. He's likely twenty years old, and has thyroid issues. He's been quite skinny for the last year or so, and R and K have him on medications and a "go ahead and feed him whenever he asks for food" policy. I often feed him when I'm there, sometimes more than once.
He's getting super fussy about food now, wanting only the very fancy squeeze tube of food that is more a treat than actual food.
Poor guy.
As I was wrapping things up, K came out to do chores, and we talked again. This time it was about easier topics than his own personal take on religion and immigration. He asked what we did this weekend, so I told him about the craft center gathering and that spun out into a larger conversation about him doing work on that building when he first apprenticed as an electrician.
Then he told me about the pump to their barn heating system having a blow out again, and he had to spend most of yesterday fixing that again (a different connector failed earlier this year).
Then I headed home.
I put Dandy back in with Ursula and the goats.
My Sweetie had supper ready, and we ate and talked for a while before he headed to bed.
