29. Describe your first job. Nothing too crazy. Babysitting.
30. What is the one thing you cannot live without? Animals, though at some point I'll likely not be able to keep any.
31. Quote the nicest thing anyone has ever said about you. A friend of mine said that I reminded her that life could be worth living.
32. Are you afraid of the dark? Why or why not? Umm, sometimes? When we moved to our now home on the acreage, it had been awhile since I had spent time alone in the country, where it really is dark. We didn't have a yard light yet, so going out to do chores alone at night with just a flashlight freaked me out. Sometimes I like having a night light on when I'm alone in the house.
33. Describe the longest amount of time you have ever been away from home.
In many ways, the whole time we lived in Wyoming felt like I was away from home. So, seven years? Then there's the way I've felt most of my life; that I couldn't live on the family farm as an adult (my brother inherited it), and being sent out into the world means not living at "home", but making a new home. For years and years and years I felt like I was just exiled from my true home which is the farm I grew up on. I still feel that way sometimes, though I suppose there has also been our acreage which feels like home too.
There was a stretch where I visited my sister for a few weeks, and I was also not settled in an apartment or anything, and that was strange.
Then there was a very long stretch of almost three months where my now husband and I were at loose ends before buying a house in Wyoming. He had gotten hired with a company that wanted him to move, so we had given up our apartment, and first lived in a motel in Alberta, Canada for a month, then lived in a motel in Wyoming for a month, then I had to go back to Canada to apply for a student visa and lived on my brother's couch for three weeks before I could join my sweetie in Wyoming. That was probably one of the most distressing times in my whole life.
34. Write about a recent adventure or travels. I'm not going to go through the whole thing in detail again, but this summer has been all about replacing our trailer with a 1930's house, but we had to tear the trailer down, dig a basement, and now we're pouring the concrete. When it's done, we'll move the house onto the foundation/basement.
35. Who did you idolize growing up?
My one older brother, some aspects of other siblings. Of course my Mom.
36. Name a celebrity or famous person you wish would take you out on a date.
Kate McKinnon. She would likely be a hilarious person to spend a day with. Alternate: Lucy Worsely. I'm not going to bother with "sexy men", because I'm married, and I doubt that Benedict Cumberbatch would appreciate my pointless crush. Graham Norton would also be a lot of fun, likely.
