Today I am grateful for:

Feeling okay with the weather, even though it was overcast, a bit rainy, and cold. I felt oddly cheerful and okay with the cold, whereas normally I would be bummed out by the greyness and chill.

A lazy approach to getting out of bed today.

Getting the rest of the carrots pulled, and washed enough to bring inside. I'll clean them more thoroughly and freeze them.

My sweetie worked on a rotted joist under the sunroom (it wasn't on a basement in it's previous location).

That I insisted we go for a walk at the park down the road. We've gotten out of the habit of going, with all that's been going on here this summer. We've had the time to go, but we just don't. So I said we needed to go today, and it was lovely in all it's damp autumn splendor. I know Roxy appreciated it.

At one point along the walking path at the park, I noticed that it seemed like the chickadees were following us, making a lot of chirps. I thought, AH-Ha, someone's been feeding you, and you're hoping I might have something for you too! I thought there might be a feeder in the trees (I've noticed them before), and that we were getting close to it, and that's why they were excited; that we might be filling the feeder. Then, as we got to a certain part of the road, the birds seemed to be flying right around us, so I held out my hand. Sure enough, the birds started landing on my hand, to see if I had food. So, my conclusion is that someone has been hand feeding them, and they've been doing it at this spot in the campground, which is accessible by car. So they likely drive here, get out, and feed the birds. It was a wonderful thing to have chickadees landing on your hand, and your shoulder, and your hat. It was like holding out my hand was an invitation to them. They landed on my husband too, once he held out his hand. I felt like a Disney princess. So, I'm going to have to find some bird seed, and go to the park more often. This is too magical to miss.

Watching "Where the Truth Lies" with my sweetie. It was a pretty good movie, and it was just nice to sit together.
