Clothing sizes are weird.
Oct. 18th, 2019 02:11 amMost of the clothes I own that fit me this past April now hang on me (and clothes that I own that were too tight now fit again), but when I go to a store, I'm still trying on clothes that are XL. I would have thought that I could wear a regular large by now.
I know that I was starting to outfat size 16 and 36 inch waist this spring, but when I go to try on jeans, I'm not a 14 yet, though some size 34 waist pants have fit me.
I still pick up some items that say they are XL and they are nowhere near big enough.
I'm not obsessing over achieving a certain size, because I'm really happy with my current weight and a lot of the clothes I have at home now fit me again, and I can see the change in my body. I just find clothing sizes to be so strange and inconsistent.
I also think it's strange that I have lost almost 40 pounds and I've only gone down maybe one size, not quite two.
I feel a bit like Alice in Wonderland, with me thinking I'm really a lot smaller now when I try on clothes I already own v.s. thinking that I am not objectively smaller when trying on new clothes in a store.
