Getting up a little earlier than usual.
My riding friend was too ill to meet today, but my sweetie came along for me (I don't ride if no one is at the arena), but another rider did join us. She's very nice, and has a darling senior horse that is very thin no matter how much extra food they give him.
River did well today. A very forward canter, and lots of good stretching. A very good ride.
A nice evening at home with my sweetie. We watched "My Cousin Vinny", which is still a lot of fun.
For my animals. It's a lot of effort sometimes to care for them all, but you just can't beat having a kitty curled up on your lap, or a goat looking at you with those soft eyes, or a horse that trusts you so much that it doesn't get up when it's sleeping, or a dog that will follow you everywhere, all the love and trust that they give you.
A good phone conversation with my Mom.
A good phone conversation with one of my sisters. Her husband recently burned the tops of his feet. He has diabetes, and apparently isn't that sensitive in his skin anymore. He was sitting close to a camp fire with his friends, and it took him too long to notice that his shoes were getting too hot. It's a pretty serious burn, and his feet are in bandages and taking a while to heal. This is a sobering wake up call for him, because in Canada, you have to be very aware of having cold feet and hands and so on because of frost bite (if he can't feel heat, he's going to have to be careful about cold). I'm glad he's okay, though he got injured. It could have been much worse. It's pretty scary, because that's something I wouldn't have considered, is how loss of sensation affects a person with diabetes.
