Nov. 13th, 2019 02:22 amWaking up today, and there are no people working in the basement, and no sounds of drills or heavy equipment. Yes, this also means that nothing is being done, but it's actually very nice to be able to sleep without being repeatedly disrupted, either by my sweetie getting out of bed very early (we have very different sleep schedules), as well-intentioned and quiet as he is, or by the coming and going of trucks and people and heavy machinery operating outside or in the house. I'm really not sure when the last time was that I had such an uninterrupted rest.
The warm weather today. Okay, I don't love that the snow is melting, because that means mud and maybe icy roads, but it's nice that it's above freezing. It means that the house is effortlessly toasty warm, the car is warm, and it's nice to do chores.
A good phone conversation with my Mom. There was some issues with the phone service in her area and I wasn't able to call her for a few days. Even today, we got cut off a few times before it worked.
A good ride on River. He was a little warm to work hard; it was above zero and he has winter hair, so I was careful to not over heat him. He stayed in collection better (not bringing his head up all the time), halting well, and was overall nice and relaxed.
Nice seeing other people. I was feeling a little at loose ends being alone today, so it was good to go to the barn and be around other people.
There was a little mouse in my tack locker, and I'm glad he darted out and hid in the barn. If I had caught him, the owner might have demanded to kill it. I was planning to catch it and let it go, but it jumped out. It was just a youngster, and oh so cute.
It was funny because one of the kids was all laughing and squealing that there was a mouse in my locker. I think she was surprised that I wasn't scared, just laughing.
Coming home and bringing some of my ornaments out of the box and back into the china cabinet, cleaning the one obnoxious litter box (I don't even think they use the others, so this one is always gross) and the sunroom where the litter boxes are. Pulling one or two other things out of the boxes.
