Mar. 5th, 2019 01:28 amAnother day with not too much pressure. Lovely.
We went to the thrift store, and I found some great glass storage dishes (for food), some stamps, and a pair of pants. My husband found some books from one of his favorite authors.
My sweetie and I decided to have a tour of a nearby mushroom farm. We've been meaning to do this for awhile, and finally just went. We didn't need much notice, the owner had some time today. The building was, on the outside, just an ordinary space in an industrial park. Inside, the whole place was so interesting. A bit like an agricultural research station, with rooms full of hanging bags of fiber medium, and mushrooms growing along the sides. All temperature and humidity controlled. All VERY clean, with ozone added to the air to control bacteria etc. Everything was quite precise. The owner was really focusing on the different kinds of mushrooms from a health perspective, and that was interesting. I know mushrooms have a lot of health benefits. Anyhow, we did buy some pink oyster mushrooms, blue oyster mushrooms, and King Oysters. We cooked part of them up tonight to have a taste test, and it was interesting. The pink ones tasted a bit like bacon, when baked. The blue ones were mild, and not very strong flavored. The Kings were a tough, chewy texture. Really interesting.
My barn ally bought spring vaccines for River and her horse (required by the barn), and administered the shot for me. One more thing out of the way.
