Nov. 28th, 2019 12:00 amIn a way, the snow. It makes the yard less ugly.
A good lesson on River. We worked on some of the comments on my dressage tests, about my circles needing to be more even, better impulsion, and more consistent contact. I have to say, it is very hard to get River moving with enough impulsion to meet the dressage standard of a good working trot. He's always had a very slow trot, and that means he isn't using his hind end, and it makes collection more difficult. I have to really work to get him forward enough to be acceptable in the tests. At least it seems like we're doing better with the circles.
Nice being around other people at the barn. Without pottery this year (still no commitment from the city for a new location for the Arts group, so we're in limbo), I am happy that I had two places to go to be around other human beings. The socializing is just as important as the riding.
There were no mice in my locker today.
I got a kick out of one little girl who wore a summer rainbow dress over her winter clothes. It was incredibly cheerful.
She and her sister also have a perfectly white, super pretty welsh pony. Literally a dream unicorn pony, with a bright pink everything for tack.
Coming home and having a quiet evening reading.
