Dec. 12th, 2019 02:33 amIf it had to snow, at least it's pretty.
Getting Christmas cards finished last night, addressed, and mailed today. I made 28 cards, and it's sort of been my consuming task for the last few weeks. It's a nice thing to do, as I don't have much left in the way of Christmas rituals, but it's also good to be done.
A decent lesson on River. He wasn't spooky today, but he was tossing his head a bit instead of just giving to the collection. We worked on the patterns again, and by the end did well, but it kind of sucks that he can't begin in a better frame of mind. I'm not sure if he's just bored by the repetition of our work lately, or just feeling jittery because he can't really run around in his corral in the winter.
I had to laugh; another rider who I see almost every day I go to the barn only noticed today that I had lost weight.
Making it home safely, by the time I left the barn it was a lot of blowing snow, and a little sketchy on the highway.
Lots of phone conversation with sisters. It's draining to talk about our sister's partner dying, but I guess it's good to talk about our fears and such too.
Tuesday December 10
I'm grateful that we finally got the basement floor poured. It will allow us to start installing the permanent heating system and so on. It was kind of amazing how much humidity there was in the house because it is above the basement floor; as it cured there was so much water in the air that it was running down the windows and doors, and everything felt damp.
A good ride on River. He was a bit spooky, but we eventually got some work done. Nice to be around others at the riding barn.
Finishing the cards up.
