Today I am grateful for:

The phone company following my instructions, and calling before the technician got here.

Getting the land line connected again. It was disconnected with the house project. I know that having a land line can seem redundant in our age of the cell phone, but because I am often alone out here, I like having a back up phone in case I either lose my cell phone, or our tower is down. The service tech seemed like a really nice person.

I had forgotten that today was the memorial service for our friend's Dad, but since I had already been putting together an outfit I wasn't too flustered when my sweetie reminded me. I was able to be ready without being stressed.

Feeling good about the clothes I found for the service; a skirt I haven't worn in over 10 years both for lack of place to wear it, and it not quite fitting. It was so nice I kept it in case I lost weight, and now it fits perfectly. Also, a shirt that had been getting snug and now fits perfectly again.

The service was nice. I didn't know my friend's Dad well, but we met his parents and his brother last Christmas. Mainly, our presence was about being supportive to our friend. This guy and his wife have been friends since we moved here about 12 years ago, and they really have been good to us.

One of the people at the service was a woman from our pottery group. She had encouraging news that we may find a new location for our studio; we haven't given up. It was also really nice to see her again, and chat with her funny husband.

My sweetie, for finding that last reserve of his energy to say "of course we should go see your horse tonight". I had a good ride, and the poles were still out from the lesson on Wednesday, so I cantered over them some more. River did really well in the arena without other horses, I can recall when it used to make him nervous.

Coming home and having a nice nap with Celeste, who is now a great big snuggle kitty (she used to be so afraid of everything).
