Today I am grateful for:

Our first Christmas together in our new home. Last Christmas, we had no idea that we would be buying a house and moving it onto a basement. I also had no idea that I would find the personal resolve to change my eating habits and lose weight.

Talking on the phone with my Mom, and it was nice to hear that people were dropping in to visit, and that my niece and her boyfriend were able to get to her house, and would be staying with her. Tomorrow is always the big day for our family (this is so everyone can do their own Christmas, and then get together for Boxing Day).

Lots of online exchanges of good wishes.

My sweetie got me things for my animals this year, and that's such a good idea. He did it last year too, and I think this works well. I am too hard to shop for in terms of clothes or perfume or jewelry, and he's too hard to shop for too. I did get him a proper travel shaving bag, because he needed one.

We went to the garage and worked on stripping the old carpet off of the cat trees for the cat rescue place, and putting on new carpet. I'm really glad to find a way to help the shelter.

We made a really nice Christmas supper that didn't mess with my diet too much. Quinoa with wild rice, tabbouleh (basically a parsley salad), and spanikopita. It was so nice, and none of it was that hard to do. I'm thinking we could do those things a little more often. I did splurge sugar-wise and have a glass of very sweet wine, but we've had a few bottles kicking around since before I changed my diet. It's either drink them at some point, or give them away.

We watched "Life of Brian" which is such a great movie.

For our sweet animals, and all the joy they bring us.
